As if our favorite brunch place couldn't get any better, starting this week, they're now introducing a B.Y.O.B. dinner service. And you're getting the introductory hook-up.
What can we say about Sun in my Belly that hasn’t already been said before? “Best brunch in Atlanta?” Check. “The cutest, quaintest, most creative space this side of Kirkwood?” That's obvious. Wait, here’s one we have yet to hear: “Their dinner is to die for.”
And that would simply be because, up until just now, SIMB (as we refer to it) has been known for its breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and occasional supperclub menus. But dinner! Dinner! Kicking off 2012 right, Sun in my Belly is now branching out in a big way with the option to eat here at night, bring your own bottle o' spirits, and choose from an array of their breakfast, lunch and new dinner menus. Think miso-glazed grilled salmon with cous cous, grilled meatloaf, wild mushroom ravioli, and fried chicken as regular entrees, but also think of the (slightly fancier?) supperclub menu optionsa changing variety of dishes like wild mushroom bisque with truffled creme fraiche, cauliflower flan with smoked trout and pumpernickel croutons, grilled flank steak with smoked paprika butter. Chef Alison will be creating weekly seasonal specials to add to the already extensive menu. And if you can’t fathom the idea of eating at SIMB without a bite of that heavenly brioche french toast topped with bananas foster, rest assured: the whole menu is available during dinner, so you can get your brunch fix for dinner too. With a side of bacon. Because bacon goes with every meal, at all hours, whenever possible. The end.
Beyond the earthy, crafty, out-of-another-era decor, the next best part of this dinner menu is actually what's not on the menu. See, SIMB is B.Y.O.B., which means you have the option to call your own beverage shots: swing by Ale Yeah! for some brews, The Mercantile or Candler Park Market for some wine, bring something special out of your own reserve for the occasion. Really, it’s up to you. And thanks to your VIP (ahem, Scoutmob) status, there will be no corkage fee on this occasion. You’re free to imbibe at your own pace and price. Which, come on, you have to admit is a nice option when it comes to dining out.
Here’s to Sun in my Belly upping the dinner game in 2012. We’ll be there to help break things in. (Who’s bringing the champagne?)
