A man. A marmot. And a rug that really tied the room together. There are many, many reasons why the trials and tribulations of the Dude, as portrayed in the Coen Brothers' 1998 cult classic film, may rank among the funniest cinematic escapades of our time. So many, in fact, that rather than attempting to list out our favorites (the hallucination! the Jesus! the World Of Pain!), we're just going to watch the whole thing for the 2,539th time. And, ever thus, we couldn't imagine a more appropriate place to host said viewing than Midtown Bowl.If you've ever found yourself injecting random Dude-isms into everyday conversation, sipping White Russians in a bathrobe, or mindlessly humming this tune for no apparent reason, mark your calendars for Thursday, March 27. On that fateful day, we'll be descending upon the lanes of Midtown Bowl for a night of basking in the genius of "The Big Lebowski," sipping the Dude's preferred beverage, and going buck-wild on the lanes. (But not too buck-wild. This isn't 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.) Pony up for admission, and you'll have dibs on rental shoes, a ball, and access to the lanes, in addition to a complimentary White Russian and all the quoting-along you can muster as the cult film plays on Midtown Bowl's screens. Oh, and costumes are, of course, strongly encouraged, so dust off your best bathrobe, purple jumpsuit, or all-black Nihilist ensemble. The dude would most definitely abide.
