Get a healthy dose of the best medicine (that's laughter, see?) at one of Atlanta's most loved improv spots.
It's been scientifically proven that increasing your weekly laughter will make you happier, decrease your cholesterol, increase your 401(k), and generally make you a better person. But don't start practicing those timeless yo momma/knock knock/jaywalking-chicken jokes just yet—this kind of medicine is best left to professionals like the ensemble cast of at Whole World Improv Theatre. Setting this theatre apart from all the others in the city is their character-driven comedy—lots of top-notch, hilarious impressions (some favorites include Tim Gunn, Britney Spears, Robert DeNiro, and more) and unique characters. These aren't just goofy yucksters shilling for your half-hearted chuckles, either. Each member of their main cast studies with the Theatre for a couple of years before moving up, having nearly perfected the art of making you pee your pants.
The theatre more recently had an interior facelift, giving it a cool loft party feel, complete with a cafe, some booze options at the bar, good music, cultured folk all around, and abnormally hilarious hosts. Get there early to ensure you can grab some drinks and prime seating in the theatre before the show begins. And the party goes on after it's over; grab another beverage and chat it up with the cast members as they hang out after they're off the stage. Perhaps if you stand close enough to one of them, you may even absorb some of their comedic talent. But don’t count on it.
