Scoutmob’s Night in Spain includes:
There’s something about summer that makes us crave paella, the classic Spanish dish that elevates rice to a whole new realm of flavor, texture and technique. Learn how to master paella and get the full CookWithJames experience from SF’s favorite culinary coach, James Stolich.
James developed a love of Spanish food and culture after studying in Madrid, where his host señora taught him her traditional Spanish recipes. He went on to earn a Masters in Spanish language and linguistics, but somehow always found his way back to food. Now, he’s become one of San Francisco’s favorite cooking coaches, hosting classes in Spanish and Italian cuisine in the privacy of his own home.
For this exclusive class and dinner party, James will welcome 10 lucky Scouts into his well-appointed kitchen for a hands-on lesson in making paella. Settle in and open up that bottle of wine you’ve BYOB’d (real chefs cook with wine, and sometimes they add it to their dishes, too). Enjoy appetizers and socializing while perfecting the finer points of paella prep, then retire to James’ dining room to enjoy a sit-down dinner with your fellow paella pros.
Start off the meal with la fabada, a rich and flavorful white bean stew hailing from the Asturias region of Spain. Then, dig in to your masterwork, the paella centerpiece that you just learned how to create (and recreate). Finish of the meal with la quesada, a delicious and rare Basque dessert that sits somewhere between a cheesecake and a flan.Bring your friends and lovers and celebrate summer in Spanish high style, exclusively with Scoutmob. Olé!
