Calling all Scouts for a screening of this 80s classic, plus a drink at Dalva and handcrafted versions of your favorite Girl Scout cookies by SF's own Hey Cookie.
The year was 1989. The place was Beverly Hills. The troop leader was Phyllis Nefler, aka Shelley Long. The challenge was beating out the Red Feathers to take first place in the Wilderness Girls Jamboree. Sound familiar? Some classic 80s movies get all the love (we're looking' at you, Molly Ringwald), but this one's an old-school favorite that deserves its space in the sun. So we're throwing a movie night like no other at the historic Roxie Theater to celebrate all things Scout, from cookies to costumes to, yes, even a good drink (Ms. Nefler did spike the punch, after all).
We'll have plenty of cookies on hand, and you'll get to sample a haute cuisine take on Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Trefoils for SF's favorite cookie girl, Hey Cookie.
Don't forget to come in costume for our contest (with prizes!). We recommend anything khaki, and you'll get bonus points for sashes and patches (plus, it'll give you a head start on your Halloween costume). And if you're going as a Wilderness Girl, we'll be on the lookout for your friendship patch, gardening with glamour patch, jewelry appraisal patch and sushi appreciation patch.
Want to prep for the evening's festivities? Get a preview of Cookie Time to perfect your sing-a-long stylings, listen to Ms. Neflers scary story, and practice your dance moves by doing The Freddie.
It's khaki wishes and cookie dreams on September 26, so come on down for an epic Scout Jamboree, brought to you by your Scoutmob troop leaders.
