I can’t keep shiny things around me because of my short…ZOMFG SUN! Attention span. See? And when I try to watch a feature-length movie, sometimes I find myself getting a bit antsy. Or maybe that has to do with some of the films I end up watching. (*sigh* Good Burger just wasn’t all I thought it’d be.) Luckily, there’s a cure for both the easily distracted and the bored—the DC Shorts Film Festival, which runs Sept. 6-16. Created by Jon Gann, one of the most interesting men in DC (he doesn’t always direct movies, but when he does, they’re short), this year’s festival is bigger (but not longer) and better than ever. Each screening features seven to ten short indie flicks. And what’s a film festival without the bookend parties? Always a good time, this year’s parties will be great. Not only are DC Shorts parties a chance to meet the filmmakers and actors, but this year one of DC’s most talented bar artists, Gina Chersevani, who regularly wins mixology competitions, will be on hand to keep you well hydrated with some of the tastiest cocktails you’ll ever meet. So grab a friend (or a date, you tiger), choose a showtime, come to the opening or closing party and have fun. Plus, what you don’t see live, you can catch up with online. As an extra perk, each handpicked package for two comes with a pair of all-access passes to watch all the films online.
