Does the notion of making your own brew make you heady? Hop City’s West Midtown location is just the place for you to learn how to get your brew on.
Most craft beer lovers have toyed with the idea of home brewing, at least for a minute. (After a few beers in, maybe?) There’s no reason to be daunted by the idea of getting crafty with craft brews in your own kitchen. After all, that’s exactly how most of our most lauded craft brewers got their start. Luckily, our pals at Hop City’s outpost in West Midtown are here to offer their expert instruction on the art of home brewing. Under their expert instruction, it’s only be a matter of time before you’re using your wits to make a wit(bier).
The chipper folks of Hop City truly love beer (like, a lot), and know just about everything that goes into your suds: the grains, the hops, the extracts, and the yeasts. They also know what to do with all of said ingredients. And in their brewing class they’ll tell you how to steep the grains, when to boil ‘em, and when to get happy with the hops. Along with that, they’ll give you tips on sanitization, experimentation, and the right equipment and ingredients to use to bring your sudsiest dreams into reality.
After making your reservation for the Saturday of your choosing, you and your fellow pupils will gather round in the atrium behind Hop City West Midtown (henceforth known as Homebrew HQ). There, your helpful instructors will await with all the bottling buckets, carboys, hydrometers, scales, and what-have-yous to make the magic happen. They’ll expertly demonstrate from start to finish, with plenty of time between for questions and clarification. (Pro-tip:
bring a pen and paper to jot down some notes.) After class, you and your fellow students will be treated to a growler full of beer from their epic array of drafts. Consider it a bit of complimentary liquid inspiration to help you get your start. Pretty soon the beers you’ll be sharing with pals on your porch will be beers you made yourself. How’s that for bragging rights?
