This Kirkwood watering hole is a place where the local brews flow like honey, the delicious eats are made fresh and sizzling, and the familial atmosphere and big screens reign supreme. Whether it’s a game day, a leisurely weekend, or just lunchtime – Kirkyard has got it all.
Look, we’re not always on the prowl for a fanciful evening. Call us luddites if you must, but sometimes we’re just in the mood for a no-frills watering hole where the staff is friendly, the conversation is grand, and maybe we can catch a game with our friends while we dine – is that so much to ask? Just a place where free of pompousness where the beer flows like honey and where we can commiserate with our neighbors over a plateful of damn fine french fries and wings. Well, if that’s a bandwagon you’d like to join in on, follow us to meet our manifest destiny at the Kirkyard.
After accruing quite a lot of experience in various restaurants about town, Dano Kirk knew he wanted to open up a spot of his own. He had all the vision and all the recipes and know-how to get him there. So when a friend and resident of Kirkwood told him that the outpost off of Hosea L. Williams was up for the taking, he jumped at the chance. First up was perfecting a menu full of next-level pub fare: lip tingling and delicious wings, a wide array of sandwiches and juicy burgers, hand-cut fries with spicy pub ketchup and horseradish layo, and some seriously filling salads for the health-minded. Second, the beer list: Kirkyard’s brew menu is a testament to Dano’s love of local brews – all but two of the ever-rotating taps are sourced from right here in Georgia. (And they all pair perfectly with the edibles, may we add.) Last, but certainly not least: the vibe. This laid-back, no-frills joint is the perfect hang-out for a leisurely afternoon or evening. Whether we’re catching a game with your pals over ever-flowing frothy brews, or get the gumption to bring out the whole family for an afternoon of fun, Kirkyard is a spot where we feel welcomed and at home.
Yup, Kirkyard certainly is as good as it gets, and we’ve got it all on tap for this dinner for two, wherein you and your dining companion/drinking buddy will have a chance to taste exactly what Kirkyard is made of. Kick things off with your choice of appetizer. (Get to dippin' with their hand-cut fries.) Wash ‘er down with your choice of local brew (we love the Drafty Kilt or Night on Ponce) or glass of wine, and take your choice of their wide variety of dinner offerings. Whether it's a burger you crave (The Humperdink is a beef burger covered with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, bacon and cheddar-jack cheesetopped with an onion ring), a pub sandwich, like the Underwood with turkey, bacon and chipotle mayo, or the Mi-Mi Mahi-Mahi, you’re sure to be satisfied. But not too
satisfied, we hope, because there’s still dessert to come, and the flourless chocolate cake is completely on-point. After a meal like this, you’re liable to ponder taking up permanent residence at the bar.
