We’ve always been lovers, not fighters, but we firmly believe there are some things worth fighting for. And if there’s one battle we’ll constantly fight, it’s against boredom. We don’t have to tell you, dear Scouts, that eating the same food every day is the work of the devil himself. Thank goodness for the angels at MetroFresh- with a constantly changing menu full of fresh, seasonal offerings and wines we can’t really find anywhere else, there’s no possible way we could ever get bored, even if we tried. Owner Mitchell Anderson opened MetroFresh back in 2005, and we’ve had a love affair with the food ever since. Sure, it’s the first place we think of for lunch, what with the ever-changing selection of fresh, healthy and seasonal dishes- the menu is so diverse it can accommodate almost any diet, with vegan, paleo and gluten-free options. But we think it may just be Atlanta’s best kept dinner secret, too. Every night, head chef Tio Miguel Navarrette is serving up four-star quality entrees like butternut squash ravioli with crispy sage, brown butter and lobster, and grilled pork chop or flank steak with local garlic-shallot green beans, so they keep the innovative menu rolling into the evening. But how do they get so much variety? The menu is almost improvisational, Mitchell says. Whichever of their four chefs are in charge of the kitchen that day creates... basically whatever they want, based on what's in season and fresh. Wait, four chefs? Yes, FOUR. That may seem like too many cooks, but you best believe it’s the perfect number. Thanks to that fourth chef they just added, Chris Harper, they now have the leeway to experiment with small plates and bring us the tastiest (and most beautiful) bites in Midtown.
